Gums are equally important; and if you are not taking good of them, you are at the risk of developing serious oral health issues. Gums are important because they support your teeth and the bones supporting the teeth.

Causes of bleeding gums

The most common reason for bleeding gums is the bacterial plaque which gathers on the teeth and around the gum line. When this plaque is left untreated, it starts irritating the gums to cause inflammation which leads to the early stage of gum disease, also known as gingivitis. Gingivitis is the mild form of gum disease and it can be reversed with the help of timely treatment. If this issue is left untreated, it can turn into severer problem which is known as periodontitis.

If you do not have gingivitis but you still have the bleeding gums, you need to pay attention to this problem as soon as possible. The possible reasons in this regard may include vitamin K deficiency, leukemia, hormonal changes, and use of blood thinning medicines.
